Cole's Friend Bobby

If you've met Cole, then you've probably met Bobby. Bobby is 5 years old, has white hair on the top and yellow in the back, his dad drives a garbage truck, and Bobby brings a friend to our house sometimes when he visits. His friend is 3, her name is Abuleigh, she has yellow hair. Oh, did I mention that Bobby is also about 3 1/2 inches tall. Yes, Cole and Bobby are great friends. They even have arguments and get the other one in trouble.
One day I walked by Cole's room and I overheard him saying, "Is not, Is too, Is not, Is too, Is not, Is too." Now this went on for some time when I casually asked Cole who he was arguing with. "Bobby! And he won't listen." Well, we had to send Bobby home for awhile so the "boys" could have some time apart since they couldn't get along.
Then there was the time that I heard water hitting the back of the bathroom door. "Bobby did that too." Yep, that Bobby sure can be naughty sometimes.
Most of the time though, you wouldn't even know Bobby was here. Until of course, you ask Cole what he's doing and he replies, "Playing". "Oh, Okay, but who are you talking to?" "Bobby". Of course, why did I even bother to ask. Of course there was the day that Bobby brought a friend to play.
What a life we live with this character. Cole and Bobby and of course Bobby's friend Abuleigh.
Oh yes, I forgot to tell you that the teddy bear, the stick horse, and the little person that fits in the fire truck are all named Bobby too. Cole informed me the other day, we needed to have another baby and name him Bobby.
Some days I wonder, "when will Bobby and Abuleigh not come to play anymore?" For now, I will indulge Cole in his world of make believe and look back on these days with a smile for many years to come.
We are getting ready to take a new step in this adventure called life. In two weeks from today, May 28, 2006, our family will travel to Palo Alto, CA for Jason to undergo his heart surgery. The surgery will take place on June 14th, early in the morning, and last 6-8 hours. We will stay down there for the better part of two weeks and are planning to come home June 26th. Cole and Spencer will join us so that we can all be together as a family. Once Jason is out of surgery and we know that everything is going great on his road to recovery Cole will go home with my parents to return to Bend, OR. Spencer will stay with us since he is just 10 months old and his mommy can't be away from him for that long. Jason's family, including all brother's, sister, and in-laws will be joining us as well as both of our parents.
There is definitely a lot of anxious anticipation for the actual surgery to take place. We are all coping the best we can, letting go of fear and worry as it comes along, trying to spend as much together as a family as we can, and making sure we don't take any of our moments together for granted. We know that God has us in His hands and that He is the one holding us together right now. Some days there are more moments of feeling scared and wondering what would happen if something went wrong. Then there are moments of hope and anticipation of what is to come in the months and years to come.
We will be posting updated information on this site as we get nearer to the surgery date and forward. We are trying to keep one main spot for those interested to get information from without having to go through a login process. Please bear with us as we are figuring out how to make the best use of our webspot.
